DENNIS M. GREENE
Born December 14, 1953, Dennis Greene g,rew up in Buena Park, CA in the shadow of Knott's Berry Farm, playing cowboys and Indians with friends and learning first how to ride bicycles and then later motorcycles across the berry fields. He graduated from Buena Park High School and attended Cal State University Fullerton, and began racing off-road on motorcycles in 1970.
Dennis has raced almost everything from two wheels, four wheels, watercraft and even in the air. He began in 1970 in the Southern California Motocross series, racing at ultra competitive parks such as Saddleback, Carlsbad, and others. His love of speed and natural balance led to many victories and trophies, in the off-road races of the Desert Racing Association and District 37 in the Southern California deserts and also Baja Mexico.
Highlights of his motorcycle racing career include: 1) 1971- first sanctioned desert race the famed Barstow to Vegas 2) 1972 through 1978 - Sponsored by Harley-Davidson of Fullerton 3) 1974 #1 Champion plate for DRA 0-200 Class 4) 1974 pitted for the famed team of Larry Roessler and Bruce Ogilvie for the Baja 1,000 which flamed his desire to race in Baja competitively. 5) 1975 Raced with his father, CV Greene, in the Baja and finished 6) 1977 Built a custom 1000cc Sportster that he and Lee Scheffers raced in both the Baja 500 and 1000, finishing well in both races. 7) 1979 Raced again with Scheffers in the Baja 1000 and finished 4th in class 22. 8) 1980s: Won the Expert Class at the famed check chase race two years in a row Over 30 wins in SCORE events 2nd in the Tecate 250 with partner Lee Scheffers Raced several Enduro Races in District 37 9) Overall, raced 300 desert races and more than 10 Baja races
Dennis raced in the glory years of off-road motorcycle racing, bumping handle bars with legends of the sport, often crossing the finish line well ahead of his nearest competition. He has raced every make and model of motorcycle, and has been highlighted in Cycle News, Dirt Bike Magazine and Cycle Magazine. In 2006, Dennis was an integral member of the 6-man O'Neal Class-50 team that became class champions, earning kudos for the new hi-tech light tower that left competitors in the dust.
In addition, Dennis has successfully raced legends cars on dirt and asphalt tracks, jet skiis, and even an airplane. He is a licensed single-engine airplane pilot with over 1200 hours incuding a certification in Aerobatics and a win in the first Point-to-Point timed race sponsored by Sunrise Aviation in 1992, which coverd an area from Orange County to Hemet and the Grapevine, finishing at the famed Harris Ranch. He is a proud member of the Baja Bush Pilots and flies regularly to the Baja peninsula, as well as all over the US.
Dennis is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying jet skiis, boats water skiis, scuba diving, snow skiis and even horses, where he competes in Ranch Sorting on his personal AQHA cow horse Hickory. He is an avid NASCAR fan and has taken several stock car driving courses alongside his friend and renowned NASCAR driver, Ken Schrader.
Dennis has owned and operated the successful precision machine shop, George Spencer Co., Inc., in Santa Ana ,CA. for 20 years, after working there for ten years and purchasing it from the boss and mentor, George Spencer. George encouraged and supported Dennis in his motorcycle racing, even helping to build the Harley-Sportster for Baja.
GSC specializes in cad/cam-oriented R&D machining for the medical, dental and space industries. They have built parts for the Space Shuttle, the Mars missions and other NASA/JPL projects and their parts reside proudly as part of several NASA displays at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC. The company is a member of the National Chamber of Commerce, and participates in local charitable efforts.
Dennis, with his 40-year racing background, is looking forward to joining the Tunnel Vision Motorsports race team for the 2007 season as a driver, hoping to bring his experience in the desert racing in all types of vehicles to achieve wins for the team.
Dennis has been happily married for 20 years, and resides in the Palm Springs area where he enjoys riding out his back gate almost every day into the hills, striving to stay on the leading edge of off-road riding and racing technology.
